Monte and ZeroAvia ink zero-emission aviation deal

Aircraft lessor Monte and green aviation developer ZeroAvia have signed a deal to realise zero-emission flights.

Monte will buy 100 electric powertrains from ZeroAvia to use on various aircrafts, with a retrofitting process to get underway from 2024 for clients to cut emissions.

The companies will also provide financial maintenance for the technology and hydrogen services for the powertrains.

ZeroAvia’s 600KW system is designed to support aircraft that seat up to 20 people, using hydrogen in onboard tanks to power the fuel cell stacks.

James Peck, VP Business Development, ZeroAvia, said: “This partnership will offer flexibility to operators to allow them to launch zero-emissions flights on their networks, as well as extending the lifespan of hundreds of in-service airframes.”

“Our partnership is an important step in our journey towards becoming one of the world’s first zero-emission aircraft lessors and we look forward to working with the ZeroAvia team on offering financing solutions for turboprop operators,” added Monte’s Timothy Eyre.
