East Devon District Council has received plans for a 142-bedroom net zero hotel to be built in the Exeter Science Park.
Zeal Hotels has submitted the plans and hopes for the hotel to reduce embodied and internal emissions, rather than using offsetting to achieve net zero.
The plans detail how the hotel would be net zero from construction, through to operation and with its supply chain.
Zeal is looking to receive the green light from the council this July and begin construction imminently.
Tim Wheeldon, Managing Director of Zeal Hotels, said: “The proposed development seeks to incorporate an innovative, low carbon building and operation standards, with the intention of being independent of the electricity grid.”
