Plymouth Argyle set for crunching tackle on net zero

League One football club Plymouth Argyle has announced its desire to halve emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050.

It has launched an Energy and Environmental Plan for the first time, which lays out how the club will look to curb its carbon footprint for the next three years.

The plan focuses on gas, electricity, water, fuel, waste, business travel and nature.

This adds to the action already taken by the club to become more environmentally friendly, including only providing paper and not plastic bags, installing LED lighting and a partnership signed that ensures excess food from games doesn’t go to waste.

Andrew Parkinson, Chief Executive Officer of Plymouth Argyle, said: “Argyle plays a huge role in the local community – and not just on Saturday afternoons.

“The club and Trust have a vast reach throughout Devon and Cornwall and it is vital that we do everything we can to play our part in preserving our environment for generations to come. Our plan outlines the steps required to take us on the journey to net zero.”
