Apple has appointed a long-serving Ford executive to bring automotive experience to its company – in its quest to enter the electric vehicle (EV) market.

Former Global Director of Safety Engineering at Ford, Desi Ujkashevic, joins the company, as desires to produce an autonomous electric car are ramped up.

Development of EVs, chassis and internal components have been some of the roles Ujkashevic undertook during her three-decade spell at Ford.

Delays to the project have been due to regulatory necessities, which the company hopes will be helped by the new hire, with her expertise in engineering and safety protocols.
