Lloyds Banking Group has announced Dr Rebecca Heaton will take up the role of Environmental Sustainability Director.

Chiefly, her role will focus on how the company can achieve net zero and devising a tangible plan to get there.

The bank has stated this new role will be crucial in its new strategy to decarbonise finance and the economy.

Dr Heaton joins from her previous role at OVO Energy in the same field.

She commented: “I’m excited by the huge opportunity to help accelerate the low carbon transition as part of Lloyds Banking Group.

“I’m looking forward to building momentum towards our ambitious net zero targets and further embedding environmental sustainability as part of our purpose to help Britain prosper.”
