British Property Federation commits to net zero by 2050

The British Property Federation (BPF) has committed to becoming net zero by 2050.

Its new plans will include helping its members tackle carbon emissions, with an aim to cut the carbon footprint of the built environment sector.

BPF has revealed it will work closely with its smaller members to kickstart their net zero journeys and is also calling on all members to sign up to the UN’s ‘Race to Zero’ by 2023.

President of the Federation, Guy Grainger, said: “The built environment is a major contributor to the climate crisis, so the real estate sector has a particular responsibility to decarbonise our assets as quickly as possible.

“Many of our members are leading the way and during my tenure as BPF President I want to make sure that we share knowledge and good practice, support each other and that every single BPF member has started the journey and is well on the road to net zero.”
