Heavy machinery manufacturing firm XCMG has announced its goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2049.
The company has released its programme of action to reach its goal, which includes a commitment to ensure renewable energy accounts for 50% of its total electricity use by 2035.
It is also aiming to reduce the carbon footprint of key products, including excavators and cranes, by 32% by 2035, compared to 2020 levels.
In the short term, XCMG aims to reduce energy consumption per unit by 15% and carbon emissions by 26% by 2025.
The company said it continues to promote energy conservation, emissions reductions, recycling and low carbon management throughout the supply chain and has recycled more than 10,000 packaging materials over the last two years.
It has three green factory demonstration companies accredited by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of People’s Republic of China and one green supply chain demonstration firm.
