This week’s podcast covers something which sadly, will be more and more essential – protecting homes from flooding.
A team of students from Coventry University’s Business School made the finals of a prestigious international competition with their design for a floating house. It’s designed for developing nations which have flood risk and involves building a house on steel poles with barrels underneath which allow it to rise up should riverbanks flood.
It’s not a new idea but the use of recycled material and low cost local materials is. Have a listen to what the team did and if you think it’s a good idea get in touch, let’s turn it into a reality!
