Peterborough sets up ‘Climate Commitment’ for businesses

Peterborough City Council has launched a ‘Climate Commitment’ to encourage businesses in the city to improve their environmental impact and make more ambitious pledges.

The council is looking to become a net zero organisation by 2030 and has created the new movement to bring the rest of Peterborough on the same journey.

The ‘Climate Commitment’ will involve regular monitoring on businesses’ processes, their carbon emission levels and actions to improve natural environment.

Councillor Nigel Simons said: “As a council we are determined to become net zero carbon by 2030 and have made huge strides towards this.

“However, we also hold the ambition for the entire city to reach the same goal, which is why we support the Peterborough Climate Commitment and would encourage all other organisations to sign up and help make our area a cleaner and greener place to live and work.”
