New partnership for New Mexico’s ‘largest’ clean hydrogen production hub

New partnership for New Mexico’s ‘largest’ clean hydrogen production hub

A new partnership has been announced for the deployment of what is claimed will be the largest clean hydrogen production hub in New Mexico.

BayoTech and New Mexico Gas Company have teamed up for the development of a “highly-efficient” production facility in Albuquerque, which will provide hydrogen to support the utility's decarbonisation goals.

New Mexico Gas will use the hydrogen in a pilot project to demonstrate the safe and effective blending of hydrogen into the company's natural gas distribution system, which can be used by conventional end suers for power, heat and cooking.

Gerald Weseen, Vice President, Regulatory, Strategy & External Affairs at New Mexico Gas Company said: “Hydrogen provides us with an opportunity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and we're invested in exploring its potential.

“We're proud to partner with BayoTech in deploying their made-in-New Mexico technology to fuel our hydrogen blending project.”

The low carbon hydrogen will also be available for other local customers, including retail hydrogen refuelling stations and operators of fuel cell fleet vehicles and backup power systems.
