McLaren Racing joins UN’s ‘Race to Zero’ and ‘Sports for Climate Action’ at COP26

McLaren Racing has signed up to both the UN Sports for Climate Action commitment and the UN’s ‘Race to Zero’ campaign at the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow.

The motorsports company has also announced the appointment of its firs Director of Sustainability, Kim Wilson, who will be joining McLaren from EDF Energy at the start of next year.

McLaren has already pledged to achieve net zero emissions by 2030.

On her appointment, Ms Wilson said: “McLaren Racing’s ambition to drive and champion innovation that helps others transition to a net zero, circular world and positively contribute to a truly sustainable future is really inspiring.

“I am excited to be joining the team at such a pivotal time and am looking forward to working with my new colleagues to turn these bold ambitions into reality.”

The UN Sport’s for Climate Action commitment will see McLaren pledge to slash its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and implement further measures to keep global warming below 1.5°C.
