Travis Perkins sets new science-based targets

Building materials supplier Travis Perkins has set science-based targets, which have been accredited by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

It has set plans to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 80% before 2035 and to witness a 60% reduction in Scope 3 emissions.

Travis Perkins has pledged to invest in its buildings to improve energy efficiency, use 100% renewable electricity, LED lighting, solar power and electric vehicles (EVs) to cut down its carbon footprint.

It has stated its switch to renewable electricity alone will save an estimated 54,600 tonnes of carbon from being emitted during the next four years.

Nick Roberts, CEO, said: "Achieving SBTi recognition for our emissions targets is an important step forwards as part of our broader sustainability plans. This adds great endorsement and credibility to the work we will lead with both suppliers and customers to decarbonise our industry.

“The measures we have put in place with regards to our fleet, the use of low-carbon technologies and our estate are already having a tangible impact on our emissions, and I look forward to building on this positive momentum.”
