INOVYN and Wrightbus team up to increase hydrogen use in HGVs

INEOS subsidiary INOVYN and Wrightbus have joined forces to accelerate the use of hydrogen across the UK’s heavy-duty fleets.

The companies will work alongside the government to investigate the most efficient and easy ways to implement the use of hydrogen in buses, construction vehicles and trucks.

INOVYN is an electrolysis expert, producing hydrogen from renewable energy and the UK’s largest producer of low carbon hydrogen. It claims to currently produce enough every year to fuel more than 1,000 buses.

Wrightbus produces hydrogen buses and recently developed a double-decker with range of up to 280 miles, emitting water as opposed to carbon dioxide as it travels.

The companies are hopeful their joint expertise in both fields will lead to a positive outcome for the decarbonisation of transport.

Geir Tuft, CEO of INOVYN, said: “The agreement between INOVYN and Wrightbus presents our companies with opportunities to expand the use of low carbon hydrogen.

“By working together, I believe we can help drive forward the everyday use of hydrogen in heavy use transport fleets across the UK.”
