In this week’s Net Hero podcast I speak to Byron Kominek of Jack’s Solar Garden, a unique farm in Colorado using solar panels to grow crops in harsh conditions. He has created a microclimate using elevated panels and found that not only can he grow crops, he can use the panels to power the irrigations systems and even generate surplus energy for revenue!
Is it something that could be emulated in arid places like sub-Saharan Africa? Could it offer us a new lower carbon future for farming and agriculture?
