British American Tobacco (BAT) has pledged to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

The cigarette company has joined the UN’s ‘Race to Zero’ campaign and set science-based targets to achieve its aims.

BAT achieved a 30.9% reduction in its operational emissions during 2020 and had its vape brand become the first carbon-neutral brand of its kind in May of this year.

Kingsley Wheaton, Chief Marketing Officer, said: “Our purpose of building a better tomorrow ensures that sustainability is front and centre in all we do. We are proud, therefore, to support the Race to Zero campaign.

“This is in addition our ambition to have £5 billion of New Category revenue by 2025 and 50 million non-combustible product users by 2030.”
