Slough commits to carbon-neutrality by 2040

Slough Borough Council has pledged for the borough to become carbon-neutral by 2040 at the latest.

Its new climate strategy plan has been drafted to cut down the borough’s emissions, improve building energy efficiency and lower car dependency.

The council has partnered with consultancy Anthesis to develop the plan, which it hopes will reduce its own emissions and promote sustainable construction, renewable energy use and produce a shift in behaviours to cut down the environmental impact of the entire area.

It has stated the targets it has set align with the national target of net zero emissions by 2050 and a 78% reduction of emissions by 2035 in comparison to 1990 levels.
