DHL Express announces UK expansion of its electric van fleet

The delivery service provider DHL Express has added 50 new electric vans to its UK fleet.

The company said it will introduce 50 more EVs before the end of the year and a further 220 before the end of 2022.

The new vehicles will be used in cities including Leeds, Manchester, Glasgow and Birmingham.

In addition to the vans, DHL plans to invest in EV charging infrastructure at more than 20 sites.

Richard Crook, Director of Fleet at DHL Express, said: "Many of the UK’s major cities are working hard to reduce emissions and improve air quality and we plan to play a major part in supporting this."

Deutsche Post DHL Group recently announced a €7 billion (£6bn) investment to reach net zero by 2050.

The group plans to have more than 80,000 EVs on the road by 2030.
