Big oil and gas are both part of the problem and part of the solution – that’s according to Graham Cooley, CEO of ITM Power, who spoke to future Net Zero about the demand for green hydrogen in the future and how the industry is adapting.

ITM Power helps to produce hydrogen and has just recently moved into the ‘world’s largest’ electrolyser factory in Sheffield.

Mr Cooley explained how green hydrogen can become affordable for the market and the steps needed to make this a reality. He stressed that the more emissions-intensive industries need to utilise green hydrogen to make their operations cleaner.

“You can’t do an energy transition without the main energy players. The oil and gas industry needs to be on this decarbonisation journey,” said Mr Cooley.
