Diamond mining giant commits to carbon-neutrality by 2030

Diamond mining giant De Beers has committed to becoming carbon-neutral across its operations by 2030.

The miner has also pledged to halve its water footprint in the same timeframe and provide the origin and impact of every diamond it discovers and sells.

As part of its 12 new sustainability goals, the firm promised also to achieve gender equality throughout its workforce and support 10,000 women entrepreneurs in its diamond-producing partner countries.

Bruce Cleaver, Chief Executive Officer of De Beers Group, said: "We are committed to supporting a lasting positive impact that will endure well beyond the discovery of our last diamond and it is only by pushing ourselves to do more so that we can maximise long-term benefits."
