Gemserv welcomes ‘much-needed jobs boost and move to bring economic benefits across the country’

The Prime Minister has set out the UK’s ten point plan to tackle climate change, deliver net zero and launch a “green industrial revolution“.

Boris Johnson says the new plans will create and support up to 250,000 British jobs while allowing the UK to “forge ahead with eradicating its contribution to climate change by 2050” in the lead-up to the COP26 climate summit being hosted in Glasgow next year.

Alex Goody, CEO of Gemserv, said: “Gemserv welcomes the measures announced in the 10-Point Plan. The blueprint further underpins the UK’s leadership in the race to net zero. Government and industry must now work together to implement these measures that will put the UK at the forefront of building a green economy, delivering a much-needed jobs boost and bringing economic benefits across the country.

"Bringing forward the phase out of petrol and diesel vehicles to 2030 together with the support for hydrogen, carbon capture, energy efficiency and green finance, are all key in the drive to tackle climate change.

"It is important that there is now a detailed roadmap, underpinned by regulatory interventions, to ensure we accelerate the push to net zero and help protect our planet.”
