Virgin Media seals deal to power Irish operations with 100% renewables

Virgin Media Ireland has sealed an agreement with Naturgy Ireland to source 100% renewable energy to power its Irish operations.

The deal will see power for Virgin Media's offices, TV studios, data centres and regional transmission sites across Ireland coming from renewable sources.

The renewable energy agreement aims to support the company's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and saving the equivalent of 58,560 trees by eliminating Scope 2 emissions of 2,374 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent.

Peter McCarthy, Vice President of Legal and Corporate Affairs at Virgin Media said: "Technology and innovation are at the core of everything Virgin Media does and this partnership is another example of working with market-leading business energy suppliers to support environmental sustainability and climate action throughout our operations.

"Our 100% renewables goal, while long-term and aspirational, reflects our determination to do our part in Ireland's transition to a low carbon future, and reinforces our commitment to take action across our operations."
