Boeing to build Apache helicopters with energy from new solar power agreement

Under the 15-year renewable energy agreement, a 100MW plant will cover 25% of one of Boeing’s sites’ electricity needs with solar power

US aerospace company Boeing has signed a power purchase agreement with the utility Salt River Project (SPR) to cover a quarter of the electricity needs at its Mesa site in Arizona with solar power.

The renewable energy will come from a new 100MW solar plant, which will be built 50 miles from Boeing’s Mesa site.

The Mesa site produces Apache helicopters and houses various corporate, commercial and defence teams in more than 40 buildings.
