Siemens Energy signs its first MW-scale green hydrogen production project in China

Siemens Group's global energy arm Siemens Energy has signed an agreement to provide a 1MW hydrogen production system for a hydrogen fuelling station in Beijing.

The company has signed a deal with China Power International Development Ltd’s subsidiary Beijing Green Hydrogen Technology Development Co for the electrolysis project, which will be Siemens Energy's first green hydrogen production system of its kind in China.

Located in one of the three main competition areas for a major sporting event to be held in 2022, the system will supply hydrogen for public transportation during and after the event.

Christian Bruch, CEO of Siemens Energy, said: "The decarbonisation of the energy systems is a challenge that every country must face.

"Promoting the application and development of renewable hydrogen is of great significance for China to build a modern and cleaner energy system."

The project is expected to be delivered in May 2021.
