Capita secures £355m contract-extension with TfL to deliver low emission zones

Outsourcing firm Capita has announced a £355 million extension of its contracts with Transport for London (TfL) to continue to manage London’s Congestion Charge, Low Emission Zone (LEZ) and Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ).

Under the contracts, the company will be able to manage the expanded ULEZ, scheduled to be operational from October 2021 and make the necessary digital transformations to enable smoother and more flexible services.

Jon Lewis, Capita’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “Working with TfL, we will roll out new, expanded programmes that reduce the effects of air pollution on Londoners and make the streets safer for all road users and pedestrians."

The ULEZ has already contributed to a reduction of 44% in roadside nitrogen dioxide within its limits and 79% of vehicles entering the area meet its emission standards.
