ITV targets 46% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030

ITV has announced a new pledge to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 46% in the next ten years.

All programmes produced and commissioned by the television network will also be albert-certified by 2021, serving the goal of having the 'biggest shows with the smallest footprint'.

The firm has also promised to have all its staff trained with climate crisis knowledge by the end of next year.

As part of its ambition towards running a 100% sustainable supply chain, suppliers will need to meet the channel's sustainability criteria by 2025.

ITV has also committed to a target of 75% reused and recycled materials and a phase out of single-use plastic across its operations, productions and supply chain by 2025.

Clare Phillips, ITV’s Director of Social Purpose, said: "The next 10 years are key in averting irreversible and catastrophic climate change.

"It’s why we have aligned ITV’s 2030 environmental targets to the reductions that science is telling us we need to do."
