HelloFresh commits to offsetting 100% of direct carbon emissions

HelloFresh has committed to offsetting 100% of its direct emissions.

The meal-kit business has said it will offset all carbon dioxide directly generated from its internal operations and offices, as well as all emissions caused by corporate travel and delivery to its customers.

The firm has pledged to invest in green initiatives through its partner Planetly, which analyses emissions and matches them with local and global green initiatives to help counteract negative climate impacts.

Hellofresh notes its offsetting activities generally focus on the agricultural, forestry and green energy industries, such as funding solar and wind plants, farm-waste methane capture and tree planting projects.

The Food and Drink Federation and SLR recently warned that more ambition is needed from the government and industry to achieve net zero across the food and drink sector by 2050.
