Lotus to establish technology centre at University of Warwick to drive low carbon automotive future

British car manufacturer Lotus has announced plans to establish a new technology centre inside the Wellesbourne campus of the University of Warwick to drive a low carbon automotive future.

The new facility will also serve as the headquarters of its consultancy division Lotus Engineering, which will initially see 130 engineers working there.

This unit will complement the work of an engineering team at the home of Lotus Cars in Hethel, Norfolk and will focus on the development of low carbon, electric technologies.

Matt Windle, Executive Director, Engineering, Lotus Cars, said: "The all-electric Evija hypercar is the first new Lotus Cars product for us to deliver, with a significant focus on this at Wellesbourne as we complete the project and continue to advance its technologies for our future programmes.”

Phil Popham, CEO, Lotus Cars, said: "Our engineering, research and development strategy around advanced propulsion systems is lock-in-step with the government’s vision and broader global ambitions for a low carbon automotive future."
