Australian telecoms firm goes carbon-neutral after purchasing 2.3m offset credits

Australian telecommunications company Telstra has announced it has achieved carbon-neutrality across its operations.

Being certified by the Australian Government-backed programme Climate Active, the firm says it reached its target by purchasing 2.3 million carbon offset credits, which support projects oriented to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Two projects in Australia which focus on biodiversity and one renewable project in India are set to benefit from the company's investment.

The firm notes it has also saved more than 13,000MWh of energy through energy efficiency initiatives.
