Audi electrifies FC Bayern training grounds with charging points in time for Bunsesliga

FC Bayern has partnered with Audi for the construction of 38 electric vehicle (EV) charging points in its premises.

The charging infrastructure is to go online later in the summer, in time for the start of the next football league Bundesliga season, when the soccer players of the team will be driving the Audi e-tron, the brand’s first fully-electric sport utility vehicle (SUV).

Players and their team will be able to charge their EVs with up to 150kW at the 80,000 square-metre headquarters of FC Bayern on Säbener Strasse, while at the start of next year the carmaker plans to equip the famous landmark stadium, home of the team, the Allianz Arena in Munich with charging points for fans and visitors.

The auto manufacturer also says more than half of FC Bayern’s Audi fleet will be electrified by the coming fall.

This is expected to allow the football team to lower its fleet emissions to less than 95 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometre for the start of the Bundesliga season.
