Danone achieves carbon-neutrality for its baby formula plant in Ireland

Food and beverage company Danone has achieved carbon-neutrality for its baby formula plant in Wexford, South East Ireland.

The new carbon status of the facility, certified by the Carbon Trust, has transformed it into what claims to be the 'world's first carbon-neutral baby formula plant'.

Danone Wexford in South East Ireland has curbed its emissions with the installation of biomass boiler, a switch to renewable electricity and the improvement of waste management processes, which ensures zero waste goes to landfill.

All these steps, as well as the company's carbon offsetting processes, have resulted in a saving of 10.000 tonnes of carbon dioxide compared to the plant’s emissions in 2010.
