HP hits ctrl-alt-del to 75% of single-use plastic by 2025

HP hits ctrl-alt-del to 75% of single-use plastic by 2025

HP has committed to eliminating 75% of single-use plastic packaging by 2025 compared to its 2018 figures.

The goal focuses on its hardware unit packaging, which will soon be made from recycled paperboard.

In 2019, the tech giant decided to eliminate power cord plastic ties and plastic document bags in hardware packaging.

To accelerate the plastic-free packaging, the company has decided to transition from plastic foam packaging cushions to those made with 100% recycled paperboard for HP’s notebooks, desktops and displays.

During 2019, the firm used more than 25,000 tonnes of recycled content plastic for its print products.

Last year, HP announced its partnership with World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to restore, protect and manage 200,000 acres of forest, an area equal to the size of New York City.

The company has also pledged to contribute $11 million (£8.8m) for WWF to restore part of Brazil’s critically threatened Atlantic Forest.
