Czech Police move to an electric beat

Czech police officers will start using Hyundai Ioniq electric vehicles (EVs).

This is as part of the police force's strategy to electrify its fleet and minimise its carbon footprint.

The vehicles will travel up to 311 kilometres on a single charge, while refilling the energy to 80% of the battery capacity takes about an hour.

The new fleet of 20 police cars, will complement almost a 100 other Hyundai cars currently in use by the Ministry of the Interior.

Martin Saitz, CEO of Hyundai Motor Czech, said: "Hyundai is an experienced and proven manufacturer of EVs and we are very pleased that the state administration selects our cars regularly.

"I am convinced that the vehicles will serve the Police of the Czech Republic for a long time and reliably."

The Czech Republic's police force will soon receive 18 more EVs.
