Speaker bios: 

Simon Alsbury, Managing Director, Energise Ltd
Simon likes complexity and finding ways of making it simple/easy to use, characterised by a quote on the office wall of “we don’t do easy, we make easy happen”. Simon founded Energise with his wife Tamsin in 2008 and its 12 strong years they’ve worked with over 600 organisations delivering a wide range of energy/carbon/net zero programmes with their now 20 strong team. With experience in pretty much every sector, Simon has overseen over £35 million of measured energy/resource savings delivered in clients. With a background in both energy and usability, he has a focus on how to make the climate change challenge easy to use whilst technically precise at the same time. All of this is driven by a personal passion for the environment and the natural world demonstrated by the fact that his first year in the sector working was full time for free in a voluntary role.

Jo Gilroy, Head of Sustainability & Environment, Kier Group
Jo Gilroy is the Head of Sustainability & Environment for Kier Group.  Her role involves designing and embedding into business as usual a new and ambitious sustainability strategy for the Group.  The Building for a Sustainable World strategy seeks to address Kier’s most significant sustainable challenges: pollution, carbon impact, sustainable and resilient supply chains, waste and the protection of habitats.   Before joining Kier in 2019, Jo spent 5 years at the FTSE 100 distribution and logistics firm, Bunzl, as their Head of Sustainability.   There she created Bunzl’s Sustainable Future Programme and won three industry awards for her efforts. Holding an MBA in Sustainable Business, and with an international consultancy background spanning India, Australia and New Zealand, Jo is passionate about supporting the corporate sector to transition to sustainable ways of working.

Jade Hunt, Group Environment Manager, Kier Group
Jade Hunt is the Group Environment Manager for Kier Group. Her role involves co-creating and facilitating the implementation of the Building for a Sustainable World strategy through development of supporting policies and processes, group-wide sustainability performance reporting, and collaboration with business leaders. Having worked as an environmental professional in the construction industry for 20 years, Jade has considerable experience in key sustainability areas including carbon, materials and resource efficiency and environmental protection. Through active participation in key industry sustainability forums over her career, Jade has contributed to the step-change in industry practice on sustainability policy and performance.
