The Gresham House Energy Storage Fund has invited Flexitricity to manage its biggest battery, a 50MW lithium-ion energy storage site near Rotherham.
To aid the National Grid Electricity System Operator (ESO) to balance excess demand in the UK, Flexitricity will manage and monitor the 50MW/75MWh Thurcroft storage system from its control room in Edinburgh once it is completed this summer.
Built by Noriker, the energy it stores will be traded across the wholesale and balancing markets, as well as with ancillary services such as frequency response.
