Yorkshire Water employs new technology to detect water leaks

Yorkshire Water is set to employ a new leak detection technology to monitor supply pipe and plumbing leaks remotely.

Due to restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 lockdown, inspectors are unable to physically visit properties to investigate and repair possible leaks.

The water company has partnered with IT solutions provider Invenio Systems to investigate leaks remotely using the Stop.Watch logger.

The application is temporarily fixed at possible leak points to monitor changes in temperature and determine the source of the leak - it is expected to prevent disruption of supply, avoid risk of infection to workers, reduce the backlog and prevent water wastage.

Invenio Systems has loaned 50 appliances to Yorkshire Water, free of charge.
