Yacht Club de Monaco launches virtual solar and energy boat challenge

The Yacht Club de Monaco (YCM) has announced the first-ever virtual version of the Monaco Solar and Energy Boat Challenge.

The international competition offers researchers, engineering students and professionals working in the yachting and energy sectors an opportunity to present their ideas for sustainable yachting.

In pursue of zero-emission propulsion solutions for the future of yachting, the challenge invites participants to submit a presentation of their project and virtually defend their work to a technical jury.

Candidates are asked to highlight the advantages of their work in terms of the efficiency of the boat and its clean energy fuel source.

Three winners, who will be able to present a boat solution with the best possible solution in performance and the least potential impact on the environment, will be awarded €2,000 (£1765) in a virtual ceremony which will take place on 4th July.
