E.ON to invest €500m of additional funds into climate-friendly energy infrastructure

E.ON has announced €500 million (£438m) of additional investments into climate-friendly energy infrastructure.

The funds will be spent to speed up electrification, particularly in the transport and heating sectors.

The energy company says it aims to support sustainable economic recovery and give 'a powerful impetus' to the green energy transition in Germany and Europe.

Johannes Teyssen, E.ON SE CEO, said: "We want to do our part to spur economic recovery after the crisis. We see interesting and promising projects with our customers in areas like the digital economy and e-mobility, to which we want to provide additional support.

"We believe that accelerating the modernisation of environmentally friendly energy infrastructure is a particularly effective way to combine climate protection and local job creation.

"The measures we propose would offer economic relief to companies and the public nationwide."
