Dominion Energy has quadrupled its renewable energy generation targets as part of a newly-announced 15-year plan.
The expansion will add around 24,000MW of renewable energy and storage capacity over the period and includes a goal to install 5,000MW of offshore wind energy by 2035, as well as 16,000MW of solar capacity and 2,700MW of energy storage.
The installation of the new capacity is expected to generate a significant number of jobs and bolster access to clean energy across the region.
In light of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Robert M. Blue, President at Dominion Energy Virginia, said: "We're focused on the health and safety of our employees and customers during this coronavirus pandemic and see these projects as a catalyst to restarting the economy when appropriate.
“We are putting Virginians to work on renewable energy projects that will create thousands of jobs, transforming the environment and the economy of the Commonwealth.”
