HelloFresh ‘to offset 100% of carbon emissions’

HelloFresh ‘to offset 100% of carbon emissions’

HelloFresh has announced plans to offset 100% of the carbon dioxide emissions generated from its operations, outbound shipping and corporate travelling.

The global food delivery company has partnered with Terrapass for an initiative which is expected to offset at least 50,000 metric tonnes of carbon and 24,000MWh of electricity.

In addition, the firm has pledged to offer ways for meal kit customers to connect with carbon offsetting projects through Terrapass.

Its annual sustainability report suggests HelloFresh generated 71% less carbon dioxide emissions and three times less waste than traditional food retailers.

Jeff Yorzyk, Director of Sustainability at HelloFresh, said: “Now more than ever before, people are relying on HelloFresh for fresh food deliveries. We want to take measurable steps to minimise our environmental impact and make meal kits an even more sustainable option for our customers.

“Our mission to change the way people eat disrupts a broken food system with needless greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by cutting out the middleman and drastically reducing food waste.”
