Jacobs commits to building carbon negative future by 2030

Jacobs has committed to reach net zero by 2020 and carbon negative by 2030.

The American firm, which provides technical, professional and construction services, has published a new Climate Action Plan outlining the commitments the company is making to help abate the climate crisis.

These include sourcing 100% renewable energy and fully decarbonising operations and business travel this year - the firm notes its biggest opportunity to cut its footprint and limit global warming is through the work performed for its clients, which largely operate in the infrastructure, construction and manufacturing sectors.

Jacobs Chair and CEO Steve Demetriou said: "Today, we reveal a plan that sets us apart – capturing the shared passion, pride and drive of our people as we work to preserve our planet for future generations.

“From the way we operate our business, to the work we perform with clients and other organisations, Jacobs’ Climate Action Plan details how we will continue to make a positive environmental, societal and economic difference for businesses, governments and communities around the world.”
