Smarter Grid Solutions launches distributed energy management system to reach net zero

Smarter Grid Solutions has launched a new distributed energy management system to to accelerate the net zero carbon transition.

ANM Strata 3.0, a third-generation distributed energy resources management system (DERMS) from the company, is designed to help move power firms a step closer to being able to monitor and manage tens of thousands of distributed energy resources simultaneously.

At present, control systems can only handle tens to hundreds of devices but they are expected to need to manage thousands in the relatively short-term future as the volume of distributed and onsite energy generation ramps up.

Smarter Grid Solutions says DERMS will allow even more renewable energy devices to be connected to power grids, helping countries to decarbonise - they now the new system is also "better placed to manage battery energy storage", which will prove a key component in balancing the grid and providing flexibility.

Colin Gault, Head of Products at Smarter Grid Solutions, said: “ANM Strata 3.0 is a leap forward in network operators’ abilities to meet the challenges of reaching net-zero and tackling the climate emergency.

“Renewable energy and energy storage are essential components to decarbonise our power networks and this is the software that will enable much larger numbers of energy devices to be integrated into the grid while maintaining stability."
