Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) commits to making its new vehicles for the Japanese market carbon-neutral by 2039.

The firm has also announced plans to start the series production of fuel-cell trucks by the late 2020s - it says the new fuel-cell vehicles use energy-dense high-pressure hydrogen, allowing them to be driven up to 300 kilometres and 'drastically reducing' filling time to less than 10 minutes.

Hartmut Schick, MFTBC's CEO, said: “MFTBC is taking a leading role in realising the electrification of commercial vehicles. Our vision is to leverage the Daimler Group’s network and technology in developing advanced e-mobility solutions, fulfilling the goal of carbon-neutral transportation.

To realize this vision, and to make carbon-neutral transport a feasible choice for our customers, subsidies for electric vehicles and charging equipment will continue to be of high importance.”
