Heineken Mexico and Enel Green Power Mexico sign 100% renewable energy deal

Heineken Mexico and Enel Green Power Mexico have signed a 100% renewable energy deal.

The decade-long agreement will provide the Dutch brewer with 28.8GWh of solar and wind energy each year, which will be used to power operations at its beer plant in Meoqui, Chihuahua.

The shift to 100% clean power is expected to save more than 16,100 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year - this is said to be equivalent to planting more than 405,000 trees each year.

Heineken has slashed emissions from its global breweries by 49% since 2008.
