Reaching net zero by 2050 ‘requires real collaboration and competition’

Reaching net zero by 2050 requires real collaboration and competition across all areas of the economy.

That's the suggestion from independent expert James Cameron, who has worked on the climate change issue for 30 years - he told future Net Zero News Editor Jonny Bairstow that although the UK is in "a pretty good position" with regards to net zero, the target will prove very demanding and "we need to be sure we are up for it".

He noted that the bulk of the country's economy is made up of small businesses, adding that they are responsible for a great deal of the innovation that takes place - for this reason, Mr Cameron suggests it is vital to form a connection between "those who have climate solutions and those who have a vested interest in the status quo" to effect a positive change across the wider energy system.
