New hydrogen boiler aims to slash heating emissions

New hydrogen boiler aims to slash heating emissions

Worcester Bosch has officially revealed a new hydrogen-fired boiler it believes 'could be the simplest solution to the nation’s heating problems'.

The boiler manufacturer's prototype also runs effectively on natural gas, meaning models can be installed on the natural gas network now but would continue to work effectively if the gas gird was shifted to clean hydrogen in the future.

It claims the use of hydrogen gas is an effective solution to reducing carbon emissions from heating, which is a notoriously difficult to decarbonise sector.

Martyn Bridges, Director of Technical Communication and Product Management at Worcester Bosch, said: "With fully developed prototypes, various trials planned and many heating engineers and manufacturers in agreement that this could be a viable solution to decarbonise heating and hot water, we are hopeful that the future will be hydrogen."
