Wärtsilä selected to supply LNG equipment for three new vessels

Wärtsilä has been selected to supply all the main equipment for the first liquefied natural gas (LNG)-fuelled short-sea roll-on, lift-off vessels to be operated by Finnish Bore Ltd.

The three ships are currently in the process of being built at the WuHu Shipyard in China, where the Wärtsilä dual-fuel engines, propellers, gearboxes and control systems will be fitted.

Wärtsilä says its integrated LNG solutions will deliver efficiency and sustainability by allowing the ships to travel using cleaner fuels - it says the system has been optimised for use on cargo vessels and notes it is located below deck without compromising the cargo capacity.

Jörgen Mansnerus, Vice President of Marine Management at Bore Ltd, said: "We appreciate Wärtsilä’s support and deep technological know-how, which have played a key role in developing these world-class vessels.

"We are proud to add these environmentally sustainable and fuel-efficient ships to our fleet."
