Colgate-Palmolive delivers recyclable toothpaste tube to retailers

Colgate-Palmolive has begun to deliver its recyclable toothpaste tube to retailers.

The firm, which says the packaging innovation is the first of its kind, says the move will make "a significant difference" towards efforts to reduce plastic use.

The tube has been recognised by the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) - it is made from the same plastic used to make bottles, so it can be recycled in the same way.

The company says by 2025 it will have modified its tube-making equipment to make the recyclable packaging at more than a dozen of its manufacturing sites around the world.

Noel Wallace, Chief Executive Officer and President of Colgate-Palmolive, said: "Colgate wants to make tubes a part of the circular economy by keeping this plastic productive and eliminating waste.

"This advancement can make a significant difference in the marketplace today as we test new packaging materials, product formats and refillable models to reduce our use of plastic.".
