Colgate has unveiled its new Bamboo Charcoal Toothbrush, which it says will help reduce the amount of plastic waste being sent to landfill.

The product is made with sustainably-sourced, biodegradable bamboo and is completely free from plastic packaging – however, the bristles are still made of nylon, so these are not yet biodegradable.

The firm claims it works just as well as traditional types of toothbrush – it has waterproofed the bamboo handle with beeswax to minimise the absorption of water and increase the lifespan of the brush.
