Colgate swaps plastic for bamboo to clean up toothbrush waste

Colgate swaps plastic for bamboo to clean up toothbrush waste

Colgate has unveiled its new Bamboo Charcoal Toothbrush, which it says will help reduce the amount of plastic waste being sent to landfill.

The product is made with sustainably-sourced, biodegradable bamboo and is completely free from plastic packaging - however, the bristles are still made of nylon, so these are not yet biodegradable.

The firm claims it works just as well as traditional types of toothbrush - it has waterproofed the bamboo handle with beeswax to minimise the absorption of water and increase the lifespan of the brush.
