Israel’s largest solar plant enters commercial operation

BELECTRIC and Solel Boneh have completed what they claim is Israel’s largest solar plant.

The 120MW renewable facility built near the village of Zeélim is expected to produce more than 220GWh of green electricity per year.

The owner is Shikun & Binui Renewable Energy, the renewable arm of the country's biggest infrastructure and real estate group, Shikun & Binui.

Ingo Alphéus, CEO of BELECTRIC Solar & Battery GmbH, said: "As Israel’s largest solar plant, this project marks an important step to help reach the government target to generate 10% of its electricity by renewable sources.

"We are particularly proud to have completed this large-scale project not only on time and quality but also in accordance with our high European health and safety standards."
