Iberdrola rolls out ‘largest’ EV charging network in Spain

Iberdrola has started rolling out what it claims will be the largest network of fast charging points for electric vehicles (EVs) in Spain.

The project, worth more than €10 million (£8.9bm), will see 200 fast (50kW), superfast (150kW) and ultrafast (350kW) chargers installed on motorways across the country.

They will be located at least one per 100km on six radial roads and three main traffic corridors – Mediterranean, Cantabrian and the Silver Route – and cover all provincial capitals.

The first 20 fast recharging stations will be operational by October and the rest throughout 2019.

Electricity supplied at the charging points will be 100% green and certified with a guarantee of renewable origin, which shows the energy comes from clean energy sources.

The initiative is part of Iberdrola’s aim to install 25,000 recharging points over the next four years.
